Walk the talk

Paris is burning. The riots are actually a big embarrassment for the French govt. The malcontented French Arabs (Beurs as the call them in France) are up in arms against the system. They have been complaining for quite some time now about the injustice done to them. Now the govt. is admitting that there is a wide spread hatred against the “beurs”.

9/11 and the row of terrorist attacks on the first world nations actually sparked the anti-Muslim sentiments in these nations. This reaction has been so intense that now every Muslim is viewed as a crime perpetrator. This feeling is not only prevalent in France but is shared by all the first world nations.

This reminds me how these very nations used to grab each and every opportunity to unnecessarily blame India for religious intolerance. Though it has been counter-productive many times, India has a history of being tolerant and liberal. The world should appreciate that sometimes mass passions against a community do crop up and these passions are very difficult to control. These isolated events do not prove that the whole country thinks on communal lines. I sincerely wish that the trouble in France should be over soon and next time before blaming any other country they should practice what they preach.
