Who stole my Comedies?

Being a true lover of comedy movies it’s aching to see the exponential dip in the quality of bollywood comedies. The latest to add to the heap of crap is Shaadi no. 1. It does not mean that its ancestors have been any better. The storylines in such sordid comedies is so clichéd that the viewers can almost predict the next scene. These movies have to have three (or more) sex starved heroes who look at extra marital/multiple affairs as the only source to vent their physical emotions. Now these heroes generally chase some ultra-skin showing freaky “babes”. The total movie concentrates on the plots these heroes hatch to get satisfied and ironically in the end they happen to pass a lousy “positive message” to the youth. I think more than sending a positive message they are actually corrupting their minds.

People love comedies because after having a weary day they can go and watch these movies with their families to forget worries for three hours. Do these filmmakers understand that it is very difficult to watch these movies with family as it involves double meaning and sleazy comments and scenes? I really wish that filmmakers become responsible, as the movies they make have a great impact on psyches of people.

The great Indian comedies always had clean jokes and scenes and these movies relied on performances and not on sex for their success. Thus it is very clear that due to shortage of talent, filmmakers have to resign to such ways.

  • I believe that its not wrong in making sex comedies.Only thing the Indian directors do is to insert some pathetic sex-jokes in movies marketed as family-movies!
Either a movie should be an out and out decent comedy(can be seen with your parents)or an out and out sex comedy for that matter!

  • i agree with you.the kind of trash being churned out in the name of family cinema or comedies is an embarassment.
aping hollywood and thier sex comedies are the main reasons for this degradation

hope so we return soon to the cinema of stalwarts like hrishikesh mukherjee
