In the name of honesty

The murder of IOC employee and IIM graduate Manjunath is disheartening. This just displays how the voices of crusaders against corruption are silenced brutally. Manjunath had closed down a petrol pump on the charges of adultery. The owner and his employees took their revenge by killing him ruthlessly.

This is not the first time that India has seen such killings. Whenever anyone stands up against injustice, the perpetuators either strip all his powers or kill him. If this continues then our democracy is heading towards a grim future where all the power will be incarcerated in the hands of ruffians.

To stop this mayhem the punishment rewarded to these murderers should not be restricted only to hanging but they should be tortured first and then hanged in public so that anyone with such motives will think twice before acting.

Dark Devils

I confess that I love chocolates like majority of people on this globe do. I love pouring lots of chocolate sauce in my coffee and milkshakes but the heavenly taste it gives with ice creams is blissful.

I still remember how I used to eagerly wait for my relatives to return from abroad just to have loads of chocolates. Now my craze for imported chocolates has reduced to a very few varieties. I relish toblerone and ferrero rochers but my favourite are the liquor filled chocolates especially the ones filled with scotch and rum. As soon as the teeth stab the chocolate chunk for the first time, the liquor oozes out and forms a creamy homogeneous mixture, this lethal combination which is sure to satiate the taste buds. I am waiting for the day when chocolate manufacturing companies in India will start making these Dark Devils!!!

Strike Back

The Bomb Blasts in Delhi left scores of innocent civilians dead. The victims had gone to market to shop for the Diwali festival but they never returned home. Lashkar-E-Toiba a terrorist group active in Kashmir valley is responsible for the gruesome attack.

For how many days are we going to take this mindless violence? It has been a more than two decades now that Pakistan is constantly bleeding India with a war in which it does not have to lose its soldiers. While after every attack there are press conferences in which India threatens Pakistan with “Dire consequences” if they continue to harbour terrorists but very little is done on ground. Now even the organizations and their Mentors (read Pakistanis) know that these are only hollow threats and at the most what Indian Government can do is to complain to European countries and the US about the nuisance. Why do we want to prove to these countries that the terror unleashed in India is the handiwork of the organizations which are funded by the Pakistani Government? Do we really think that these countries don’t know about who is creating problems in Kashmir? Instead of lamenting like this we should go in for a hot pursuit in POK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir), destroy all the terrorists infrastructure their, KILL all the militants….killing is important as we don’t have excess food to feed these dogs and then bring the whole Jammu and Kashmir under Indian control.

Often when I express my views about this issue, people tell me that I should keep in mind that Pakistan has nuclear arsenal and it can nuke India and destroy the major cities. I have only one answer…. In case Pakistan nukes us we will be have all the major cities destroyed but the Indian army will see to it that Pakistan is totally annihilated.

For how many days are we supposed to be afraid to do what is required for the national security. We are the country which has not retaliated when Pakistan continuously bleeds us, we didn’t retaliate when China occupied our territory and we didn’t even hit back when the minuscule Bangladesh killed our BSF soldiers… Why do we have to be afraid of repercussions each time when our national honour is ravaged? Even we are a Nuclear Power, we should strike back and annihilate our enemies and win our own war without expecting any other country to help us in that.

Surprisingly SBI.

Today morning I saw the “Chimanlal Charlie” advertisement. It was hilarious, witty and well made. State bank of India is finally improving its PR skills to take on its competitors. “Surprisingly SBI”.

No one can see even one

I do not understand how people can stand the weird Saas-Bahu soaps. Even seeing one episode is a great torture. They all contain the same ingredients; the treacherous plots, juvenile comedy, some stupid looking people and degrading it further they also have real poor performances.

In the era when more and more families are opting to be nuclear, these soaps provide all that is needed to enlarge the rift amongst the families. Viewer minds are becoming more and more scheming and polarized and they tend to doubt anyone and everyone.

Thankfully a survey said that the popularity of such soaps has decreased, this was obvious as it is really difficult to bear them. In a lighter vein it can be even used by police as a method for third degree torture… “No one can see even one!!!”

Wishful Thinking

One of the most common incidents featuring in the fairy tales is a genie or a fairy asking a human to ask for any three wishes which he/she will fulfill. I always thought that even if she gives me one wish it would be enough. I would tell her that I want to be happy all my life. I think that would be sufficient for getting everything I wish for in life. When I write this post, I am actually feeling like a kid but I guess we all should give sometime for the kid in us to have a say in whatever we do. Wishful thinking, isn’t it?

The man, the machine.....

Not very long ago Maruti Industries had monopoly in the car market of India which actually made them complacent but the numbers of car manufacturing companies entering the Indian market have shot up. The cut-throat competitions have benefited the customer tremendously because now they have a range of models to choose from and that too at very competitive prices (with easy loan facilities).

This reminds me of a car that Peugeot had introduced a few years ago in the country. The car was actually a piece of junk and was a total failure in other countries. The management thought that they could easily fool the Indian customers and dump their cars in India. But they realized it very soon that the Indian customers are very intelligent and are not less demanding than those anywhere in the world. The result was predictable, the project failed miserably in India.

The important parameters which most of the Indian customers (middle class) consider while purchasing their machine are:-

(In descending order)

1. On road performance.
2. Cost.
3. Styling and Ergonomics.
4. Innovation.
5. Brand.
6. Mileage.
7. Advertisements (Sachins and Shahrukhs do make a difference).

Bell the CAT

I am sick and tired of the “expert comments” given by the management gurus on how to bell the CAT. They sometimes even give the sequence in which the sections should be answered and this I think is the worst part. The sequence that a person has to follow is according to his/her comfort level. Candidates have to keep in mind that if they gain confidence after answering the first section, they stand a very high chance of scoring decently because confidence plays a major role in increasing the speed and accuracy. So they have to first solve the section at which they are best. I would like wish all the aspirants luck for their examination.

Who stole my Comedies?

Being a true lover of comedy movies it’s aching to see the exponential dip in the quality of bollywood comedies. The latest to add to the heap of crap is Shaadi no. 1. It does not mean that its ancestors have been any better. The storylines in such sordid comedies is so clichéd that the viewers can almost predict the next scene. These movies have to have three (or more) sex starved heroes who look at extra marital/multiple affairs as the only source to vent their physical emotions. Now these heroes generally chase some ultra-skin showing freaky “babes”. The total movie concentrates on the plots these heroes hatch to get satisfied and ironically in the end they happen to pass a lousy “positive message” to the youth. I think more than sending a positive message they are actually corrupting their minds.

People love comedies because after having a weary day they can go and watch these movies with their families to forget worries for three hours. Do these filmmakers understand that it is very difficult to watch these movies with family as it involves double meaning and sleazy comments and scenes? I really wish that filmmakers become responsible, as the movies they make have a great impact on psyches of people.

The great Indian comedies always had clean jokes and scenes and these movies relied on performances and not on sex for their success. Thus it is very clear that due to shortage of talent, filmmakers have to resign to such ways.

Walk the talk

Paris is burning. The riots are actually a big embarrassment for the French govt. The malcontented French Arabs (Beurs as the call them in France) are up in arms against the system. They have been complaining for quite some time now about the injustice done to them. Now the govt. is admitting that there is a wide spread hatred against the “beurs”.

9/11 and the row of terrorist attacks on the first world nations actually sparked the anti-Muslim sentiments in these nations. This reaction has been so intense that now every Muslim is viewed as a crime perpetrator. This feeling is not only prevalent in France but is shared by all the first world nations.

This reminds me how these very nations used to grab each and every opportunity to unnecessarily blame India for religious intolerance. Though it has been counter-productive many times, India has a history of being tolerant and liberal. The world should appreciate that sometimes mass passions against a community do crop up and these passions are very difficult to control. These isolated events do not prove that the whole country thinks on communal lines. I sincerely wish that the trouble in France should be over soon and next time before blaming any other country they should practice what they preach.

Traffic chaos

It is an irritating scene to see the crowd of beggars on the Pune’s Traffic signals. As soon as the signals turn red they run on the road to grab a potential “Bakra”. People who don’t want to miss the signals are at a very high speed and they have to apply sudden brakes when they see the tribe running on the road. In case there is an accident then who is responsible? And who will pay for the injuries caused to the beggar? The all-interested passersby will always blame the vehicle driver for the same and probably abuse or even beat him up.

This thing has to be stopped and it’s the responsibility of the traffic police to do so. Instead of legally looting the public they should work for the betterment of the traffic for a change. Is the police department listening?

Banking on peace

The pace at which the “confidence building measure” between India and Pakistan is moving is sometimes a bit scary. In the latest development State bank of India and Pakistan’s Habib bank are all poised to open their branches on the other side of the border. Are we absolutely sure if the security that will be provided to these banks would be enough to avoid any untoward incident? If anything goes wrong anywhere it will be these bank’s employees who will face the wrath of people. This would lead to a total collapse of the feeble peace that has been initiated.

“Indians eat like Emperors”.

Few days before my aunt invited me for dinner at her place. Few visiting American delegates at my uncles company were also present there. The dinner comprised of a few Vegetable curries, rotis, and rice. The Americans were simply amazed to have the food especially the curries and were happy to take multiple helpings of the same. They added that they were hardcore non-vegetarians and didn’t know that vegetarian food can taste so great. My aunt happily gave them the recipe of some easy to make curries. After the dinner my aunt served gulab jamuns, shrikhand(sweet curd). They were bowled over by the taste of the desserts but the real thunder was yet to come. When they had masala paan they couldn’t believe that such royal food exist on this planet. The statement by one of them summed up the total event: “Indians eat like Emperors”.

Mistrust amongst Indians

I was speaking to a friend of mine when he said that value system in India is far better than that in Europe or the US. I totally disagree with him. If that would have been the case then Indians would have trusted each other. If a person in US claims that the microwave he is auctioning on the internet is two year old and is in good condition, people believe him. If the same thing happens in India we will have many questions cropping up in our minds and wont believe him initially. This is the reason why auction sites do so well abroad but not in India.

Every person has to be truthful and only then can the trust be build amongst us Indians. This can actually bring about a revolution in the country and there would be no looking back.

Successful Love marriage

I have heard many people say that very few Love marriages last. Even statistics say that the success rate of love marriages is less than arranged marriages. I feel that this is because the partners expect too much from each other in a love marriage and they are not ready to adjust to changes which are bound to happen after marriage. The quality time that the partners spend with each other before marriage is a time when the generally try to exhibit their best part to the other person but when it comes to living together they notice the flaws which are hidden before.

As against this in an arranged marriage the partners are ready to adjust from the very beginning of the relationship. They strive to make the relationship stronger by adapting to the changed environment. This is the only reason I see that makes arranged marriage more successful than love marriage.

If people keep some points in their mind they can actually have a wonderful and successful love marriage. If they are ready to adjust a bit, are true to their partners and show their actual self before marriage there would be nothing to stop a successful Love marriage.

Stupid passion stirring

The latest rows of allegations against Infy chairman Narayan Murthy by ex Prime Minister H.D. Devegowda are outrageous. The Karnataka Govt. should never forget that it’s because of IT companies like Infy that Bangalore is able to attract international attention. Most of the IT multinationals prefer going to Bangalore than any other city in India though the infrastructure provided at places like Hyderabad are much better. The only reason is that there is a pool of IT potential in Bangalore and the city has been a leader in IT from the very beginning. But sadly this pace of growth is not matched by the government. Infosys was the first major IT Company to start its development center in Mysore Karnataka. This will help in the development of the city because not only are the software professionals benefited from such a project but the allied industries and the locals also gain a lot. This move by the company was reciprocated by the Govt. by halting the ambitious Bangalore – Mysore expressway project. If completed this project could have invited a lot of companies in Mysore because of its connectivity with Bangalore, good weather and low prices. But it seems that Mr. Devegowda fails to foresee the good that it will do to Karnataka and India as a whole.
